A-Gas launches RefHub: a new digital platform for refrigerant management

A-Gas is accelerating the digitalisation of refrigerant management with RefHub, a new customer-focused platform due to launch in the UK on 1 October. Developed over recent months by the company’s UK teams, the project is designed to simplify day-to-day operations for industry professionals while supporting them through the transition to new compliance requirements.

“RefHub is our customer platform, designed to make it easier to do business with A-Gas,” explains Simon Launder, Chief Technology Officer at A-Gas. The first phase of the platform focuses on the management of refrigerant and waste returns, also in response to the introduction of digital waste tracking in the UK. The company’s longer-term ambition, however, is broader: to create a single digital environment through which customers can access A-Gas services, manage their refrigerant-related activities and obtain the information they need.

Less paperwork and greater traceability

At the heart of the project is the aim of reducing the administrative burden on operators, allowing them to capture information once, complete tasks directly in the field and access data without having to rely continuously on paper documentation.

“Technology should support the skills and relationships on which our industry is built,” says Launder, highlighting the importance of ensuring that digital transformation translates into practical tools that simplify everyday work.

In this context, RefHub has also been developed to address the new Defra requirements for digital waste tracking. The platform captures information relating to returns as part of customers’ normal operational procedures, helping A-Gas meet its waste reporting obligations in the UK while reducing manual administrative tasks.

Compliance with UK regulations is, however, only the first step. The technology underpinning RefHub has been designed to support expansion into other markets and accommodate different regional regulatory requirements over time, including the registration and reporting obligations established under F-gas regulations.

New digital services for wholesalers and installers

For wholesalers and installers, the initial benefits are expected to include simpler refrigerant return procedures, less manual paperwork and faster access to information, both via desktop computers and mobile devices.

The 1 October launch therefore represents the first stage of a broader project that is expected to expand over time. Future functionality is set to include greater visibility of cylinders, stock management, rental services, reporting and additional self-service capabilities.

With RefHub, A-Gas aims to build a connected digital ecosystem that brings together key refrigerant management activities on a single platform, helping industry professionals streamline their operational processes and meet regulatory requirements more efficiently.
