Dryer filters: demand set to grow driven by refrigerant transition
April 15, 2026The global chillers market is set to grow in the coming years, driven by rising demand for efficient and sustainable cooling systems. According to the Chillers Market Report 2026, published on January 27, 2026, by Research and Markets, the total market value is expected to increase by approximately $2 billion between 2026 and 2030, reaching $13.3 billion by the end of the decade.
Forecasts indicate growth from $10.94 billion in 2025 to over $13 billion in 2030, with an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 4%. The expansion of the sector is supported by several factors, including increasing attention to energy efficiency, the development of digital monitoring systems, and the adoption of smart temperature control technologies.
At the same time, the use of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers is rising across multiple applications, ranging from commercial and industrial sectors to residential use.
The role of the food industry
A major driver of demand is the food and beverage industry. The report highlights how chillers are essential for precise temperature management during processing, storage, and transportation of food products.
A notable indicator comes from the European savory snacks market, which reached approximately €40 billion in retail sales in 2023 (around $43 billion). These figures reinforce the need for increasingly efficient and reliable cooling infrastructure.
The report also notes that international trade dynamics, including tariff changes and supply chain tensions, can affect the cost of imported components. At the same time, these pressures are encouraging the development of local production and higher energy-efficiency solutions.
The analysis considers various market segmentations—including product type, capacity, compressor type, and end-use sector—along with geographic distribution covering Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, and Africa. For 2026, the global market value is estimated at $11.35 billion, serving as the starting point for the projected growth cycle through 2030.
The industrial, commercial, logistics, freezing, and cryogenic refrigeration sectors will gather at REFRIGERA, the international event for the industry, to be held at BolognaFiere from November 10 to 12, 2027.
