REFRIGERA 2025: the ECO CASCADE unit by MARCHITELLI REFRIGERATION

MARCHITELLI REFRIGERATION will participate in REFRIGERA 2025 with its ECO CASCADE unit with a CO2/R513A cascade system for use in low-temperature cold rooms with eco-friendly R744A (CO2) subcritical refrigerant.

This solution is designed where it is not possible to supply a condensing fluid (typically ethylene glycol from the unit serving TN and/or process users), offering a cost-effective, energy-saving, and technically very simple solution, like traditional direct expansion systems.

It is a self-contained unit consisting of an inverter-driven subcritical CO2 compressor and an inverter-driven HFC (HFO) compressor, a plate-type cascade condenser powered by an electronic valve; all managed by a dedicated electronic controller that manages all phases of the cascade (inverter LV compressor, inverter HT compressor, electronic valve feeding the cascade condenser).

The main advantages of this unit are:

• lower investment costs compared to a transcritical solution
• high COP, therefore low operating energy consumption
• system with limited component use, which reduces the risk of breakdowns and extremely low maintenance costs over time
• the use of a dual inverter (both LV and HP) allows for extreme management flexibility in all transient conditions and limited compressor start-up, resulting in energy savings and reduced mechanical wear
