Sustainable Refrigeration: CO₂ Container Becomes a Training Tool in South Africa
October 13, 2026MTA is expanding its industrial refrigeration portfolio with ARIES N Deep Freezing (ASN DF), an air-cooled packaged chiller designed for applications requiring brine outlet temperatures ranging from -12 to -30 °C. Developed on the ARIES N platform, the new solution incorporates technologies specifically designed for rapid cooling, with the aim of combining reliable performance, low energy consumption and ease of operation.
Available in seven models, with nominal cooling capacities ranging from 90 to 250 kW, ASN DF is suitable for a wide range of industrial sectors, including food and beverage, logistics and cold chain, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
Energy efficiency and low-environmental-impact refrigerant
At the heart of the design are inverter-driven screw compressors, engineered and optimised for use with R290, a refrigerant characterised by a very low global warming potential (GWP). The combination of these technologies is designed to improve system efficiency and adapt operation to the actual cooling requirements of the industrial process.
To further enhance the system’s energy performance, MTA also offers an optional heat recovery function, which allows heat generated during the refrigeration cycle to be recovered for other uses compatible with the industrial process.
The compact, integrated packaged design brings the system’s main components together in a single unit, simplifying installation and making operation and maintenance easier.
Safety and reliability at the heart of the design
The use of R290 refrigerant, which belongs to safety class A3, has required particular attention to design considerations and protective measures. ARIES N Deep Freezing has been developed in accordance with MTA’s SDS2E approach, based on the principles of segregation, detection, shutdown, signalling and extraction (Segregate, Detect, Stop, Signal and Extract).
To ensure reliability, the units have undergone rigorous testing and validation at one of the most advanced testing facilities in the EMEA region. The standardised design also helps reduce production lead times, simplifying both manufacturing and unit management.
Intelligent control and integrated connectivity
The chiller is managed by the Symbio™ 800 controller, programmed with dedicated functions to optimise energy efficiency in freezing applications. The user interface is complemented by the TD7 touchscreen display, designed to provide intuitive interaction with the system and facilitate monitoring of operating parameters.
The solution is also designed for integration with supervisory systems and building digital infrastructure. Its connectivity features are engineered to ensure secure integration in line with the latest cybersecurity standards.
With ARIES N Deep Freezing, MTA offers an industrial refrigeration solution that combines low-temperature performance, inverter technology, a low-GWP refrigerant and an integrated design, meeting industrial process requirements for efficiency, reliability and ease of operation.
Discussions on the future of refrigeration are also part of a calendar of events dedicated to innovation and industry development. Topics including industrial and commercial refrigeration, cold-chain logistics, freezing and cryogenics will also be explored at REFRIGERA, the international event dedicated to the sector, taking place at Bologna Exhibition Center from 10 to 12 November 2027.
